Generally speaking, the OPC overspeed protection system of steam turbines mainly refers to the OPC solenoid valve assembly. It is composed of two parallel arranged overspeed protection solenoid valve such as SV13-12V-O-0-00, two check valves, a control block, and related meters.

These components are controlled by the OPC part of the DEH controller. During normal operation, the two OPC solenoid valves are normally closed due to power loss, sealing the oil drain channel of the OPC main pipe, and establishing oil pressure in the lower chamber of the piston rod of the high and medium pressure regulating steam valve actuator; When the operating speed of the steam turbine exceeds the rated speed of 103, the OPC controller of the DEH control system sends an action signal, and these two solenoid valves are excited and opened, allowing the OPC main pipe oil to be discharged to the EH oil tank through the pressure free return pipeline.

In this way, the unloading valve on the corresponding control valve servo actuator quickly opens, causing each high and medium pressure control valve to quickly close. When the operating speed of the unit decreases to the rated speed, the OPC solenoid valve, under the control of the OPC controller in the DEH system, loses power and closes. The control oil pressure of the OPC main pipe is restored, and the opening of each regulating valve before the action is restored.
