Coal, as the main energy source in our country, effectively guarantees the rapid economic and social development of our country. Under the requirements of the "dual carbon" target, the coal industry and Coal Power Generation have received more attention.

The National Development and Reform Commission and other departments issued the "Benchmarking Levels in Key Fields of Clean and Efficient Coal Utilization (2022 Edition)", which pointed out that all localities should fully understand the importance of promoting clean and efficient utilization of coal, based on local conditions, adhere to the system concept, Respect the laws of the market, refine work requirements, strengthen the implementation of responsibilities, accelerate the promotion of clean and efficient use of coal, and help promote the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system.

Experts believe that the most effective way to use coal cleanly and efficiently is to use it by grade and quality, improve the overall energy efficiency of the process, reduce carbon emissions, and achieve high-end, diversified and low-carbon products. Strengthening the technical research on the clean and efficient utilization of coal is the primary and practical way to solve my country's energy security.

What are the clean and efficient technologies for utilizing coal resources at present?

The Ministry of Science and Technology's "Development and Engineering Demonstration of Efficient and Flexible Secondary Reheat Generator Sets" project includes two 660 MW ultra-supercritical secondary reheat units. The power generation efficiency of the traditional ultra-supercritical primary reheat unit is generally about 46%, and after the application of the secondary reheat technology, the power generation efficiency can be increased to more than 48%. On this basis, in 2021, the average annual soot emission, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide concentrations of the two ultra-supercritical secondary reheat units will be about half lower than the national ultra-low emission standard for air pollutants, achieving ultra-low emission of air pollutants.

In addition, carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage technologies are also promising in helping the coal energy industry to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. In 2011, my country built the world's first 100,000-ton carbon dioxide capture, liquefaction and storage project in the coal chemical industry. It is also the world's first carbon dioxide capture and storage project under low-porosity and low-permeability geological conditions. , permanently stored underground to a depth of 1500 meters to 2500 meters, and set up a number of monitoring indicators to monitor the escape of carbon dioxide to ensure safety and environmental protection.

The clean and efficient utilization of coal in the new era must follow the characteristics of "three highs and three lows", namely: high efficiency, high safety, and high-level talents. First of all, advanced technology should be fully utilized in all aspects of coal production, transportation and consumption, so as to be economical and efficient; secondly, production safety should be ensured and the coal industry should become a highly safe industry; A team of high-level talents in the industry. The three lows refer to low damage, low emissions, and low damage. Minimize the impact of coal mining on the ecological environment; achieve near-zero emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases; improve the working environment of mines and protect the physical and mental health of coal industry practitioners.
