The PR6424/010-140 sensor is an eddy current sensor and is part of the 3300 XL Proximity Sensor System. This eddy current sensor measures static (position) and dynamic (vibration) readings and outputs a voltage proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface. It is a high performance measurement solution with very high reliability, especially suitable for critical industrial applications requiring precise monitoring and control, such as vibration and speed measurement in power plant steam turbines.

PR6424/010-140 eddy current sensor is applied in many aspects in steam turbine, the key lies in its accurate measurement and reliable performance to ensure safe and stable operation of steam turbine.

 

Axial displacement monitoring: Eddy current sensor can monitor the axial displacement of steam turbine, i.e. the relative displacement between rotor and stator. This is very important to prevent mechanical failure because excessive axial displacement can cause serious mechanical damage.

 

Differential expansion measurement: during the operation of steam turbine, differential expansion may occur due to different expansion degrees of rotor and stator. Eddy current sensors can accurately measure this difference and help operators to adjust in time to prevent equipment damage caused by excessive differential expansion.

Vibration monitoring: the steam turbine will generate vibration during operation, and the vibration is directly related to the safety and service life of the equipment. Eddy current sensors can detect vibration levels and provide data support for analyzing and judging equipment health.

 

Key phase and rotating speed measurement: the operating state of the rotor can be evaluated by monitoring the key phase and rotating speed of the turbine rotor to ensure that the turbine operates normally according to the predetermined parameters.

 

Differential expansion monitoring: especially in large steam turbine generator, differential expansion may be caused due to different expansion rates of rotor and stator. Eddy current sensors are suitable for measuring the resulting differential expansion to help maintain proper equipment operation.

 

In addition, eddy current sensors have a series of characteristics, such as high linear range, high output sensitivity, and the ability to withstand humidity and high temperature, which enable them to adapt to the complex and varied operating environment inside the steam turbine. Anti-interference is also considered in the system design to ensure stable operation under complicated electromagnetic environment and meet electromagnetic compatibility requirements. These features make eddy current sensors an indispensable part of turbine monitoring, helping to improve the operating efficiency and safety of steam turbines.
